Travel Teams

The Aurora Travel Baseball program strives to provide Aurora players seeking a higher level of competition an opportunity to compete against some of the top community and select travel teams in Northeast Ohio, while focusing on developing strong fundamentals, teamwork, and a sense of community at a reasonable cost.  Our vision is that Aurora players should not have to leave the community to join a private club and spend thousands of dollars to get a top tier baseball experience and reach their maximum potential.

We field travel teams at the 8U-16U age divisions which compete primarily in the Buckeye League, but also other regional leagues like the CVBA and GLBL.  Teams also compete in 3-4 weekend tournaments each season.

The 12U and 14U teams have the opportunity to travel to destination tournaments like the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach and Cooperstown Dreams Park.  Other age divisions have the opportunity to participate in regional tournaments in Columbus, King's Island, Cedar Point, and other regional destinations.    Teams will be required to do additional fund-raising to go to a destination tournament.

Travel teams practice twice a week starting in February.  Season and tournament play usually begin in April/May.  The travel season typically runs through early July.  The league playoffs are usually the 1st 2 weeks of July.  Teams may play in up to 30-40 games per season depending on playoffs and tournaments.  Being on a travel team is a major commitment, with game schedules changing frequently and having multiple game nights per week.

Players earn a roster spot through a competitive tryout conducted by an independent evaluator with professional baseball experience.  No tryout process is perfect, but we strive to make it as fair and objective as possible.  

Players must be residents of Aurora or be a student in the Aurora School District.

    • Uniform costs are included. (Personal player equipment is NOT included.  Players are responsible for purchasing their own bats, mitts, etc.)
    • The Aurora tournament is included.  Plus $1200 per team for additional tournaments.
    • Teams that participate in destination tournaments will have additional costs and fundraising requirements
    • Fees cover insurance, city fees, umpires, indoor practice facilities, professional player development, baseballs, equipment, uniforms and other costs.
